Car bombs kill at least 86 people in Iraq

In Iraq, at least 86 people were killed in a wave of attacks across the country on Monday.The worst hit was the capital city of Baghdad, where ten car bombs ripped through open-air markets and other areas of Shiite neighbourhoods, killing at least 48 people and injuring more than 150.The town of Balad, about 80 kilometres north of Baghdad, the northern Shiite neighbourhood of Shaab and Basra in southern Iraq were among the other places, where the deadly attacks claimed dozens of lives and wounded many others.These attacks marked the deadliest day in Iraq in more than eight months, and raised the nationwide death toll since last Wednesday to more than 230.
