SP, 5 other policemen killed by Maoists

In Jharkhand, six policemen, including the Superintendent of Police of Pakur – Amarjit Balihar, were killed in a naxal attack when they targetted the motorcade of the SP, when he was returning from Dumka after attending a meeting.AIR Ranchi Correspondent reports the naxals had laid a trap at Aamtala under Kathikund police station of Dumka district.Landmines were exploded and simultaneous firing from many directions on the police by the naxals started today afternoon when the police convoy was passing through the area.Daylight attack on Pakur SP near Dumka has brought the earlier peaceful Santhal region of the state into naxal terror map.At present, 18 of the 24 districts of Jharkhand are naxal affected. Soon after the incident, addition police reinforcements arrived the area and are now carrying out search operation against the naxals.
