R K Mathur to hold charge of Defence Secretary

Senior IAS officer Radha Krishna Mathur, who has been appointed Defence Secretary for two years, will continue to hold the post of Secretary, Department of Defence Production.Mathur’s appointment came after Shahshikant Sharma took over as Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG). Mathur, a 1977 batch IAS officer of Manipur-Tripura cadre, will hold additional charge of the post of Defence Secretary, Ministry of Defence for a period of two years with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post, an official press release issued today said. Mathur has earlier served as Additional Secretary and Special Secretary in Department of Defence from September 2008 to October 2011.The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved repatriation of another IAS officer Amar Singh to Madhya Pradesh with effect from tomorrow. Singh, a 1981 batch IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre, was working as Chairman and Managing Director of Food Corporation of India (FCI) here. The ACC has also approved appointment of Nilanjan Sanyal, as Secretary, Department of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Sanyal, a 1979 batch IAS officer of Orissa cadre, is presently Special Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development.The vacancy had necessitated following retirement of Anil Kumar, a 1976 batch IAS officer of Nagaland cadre, on May 31, 2013
